Tinubu And The Eight-Month Betrayal

Betrayal is later-on foolishness and it is deadly in terms of career whether politically or what have you, ghastly also to life itself. An imbroglio of synergy he wrongly architected in the dark with other god-father politicians to rob Nigerians of their national resources has been an open-secret, really with root in the sky that will not germinate anywhere in Nigeria. It has been dynamic governmentally to hear, he, Tinubu, recently [after the December diatribe] eliminated one of his cabinet members on corruption charges which by now signifies a new direction in the indecisive government. The new path will surely lead us to an El Dorado of liberty the green pressure has been inventing amidst the elderly politicians who have been finding it difficult to retract from the vainglorious Abachaism which will no one day work in Nigeria as a prominent political party chieftain just shot dead in Osun ere a Lagos party Chairman Phillip Aivoji got kidnapped on Lagos-Ibadan expressway recently. The wholly accepted unworkability will only make a decisive economy of general liberty for us by equipping the refineries completely [which is chief now] and by reducing the fuel prices to stem the sporadic inflation that makes even citizens curse the presidency to a minimal level; recently CBN governor confirmed this. Henceforth, what to be removed was not the subsidy clause however the corrupt delay in having the refineries in full operations meaning the costs of importing the fuel we ironically produce from our home will be removed to live indeed in an economic liberty without the all-experienced inflation. What actually we need to increase is our agility to be honest and loyal as a nation to the national development in accessing an all-inclusive durable liberty. Thanks.

The 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON)

Cameroon will face the three-time Africa Cup of Nations winners Nigeria in the last 16 of the ongoing 2024 edition after they defeated Gambia 3-2 at the Stade de la Paix in Bouaké to secure automatic qualification
After picking up seven of possible nine points during the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) group stages, Nigeria booked their spot in the round of 16 with relative ease despite only scoring once in all three of their games so far. This is now Nigeria’s 15th straight qualification to the knockout phase in AFCON tournaments they’ve featured at, and they’ll hope to go much further than just the last-16, as the Super Eagles picked up a medal in 12 of those 14 prior qualifications. Granted, half of those medals were the third place bronze, but the most recent of those in 2019 saw them draw none other than Cameroon in the round of 16, with Nigeria running out 3-2 victors. That was the most recent of four straight unbeaten competitive H2Hs against the Cameroonians (W3, D1), two of which were wins within 90 minutes and in an AFCON knockout setting. Also third placed finishers in their own 2021 edition, Cameroon are looking to navigate into the quarter-finals for the tenth time across their last 12 AFCON appearances. Despite that respectable record, Cameroon’s traversal of the group stages was anything but graceful. Without a win in their first two matches, it took two goals beyond the 85 minute mark to seal a 3-2 win over Gambia to send them into the knockouts. That game also continued the theme of exciting encounters featuring Cameroon, with each of their last five internationals seeing goals at both ends (W1, D3, L1), three of which saw them claw back deficits to avoid defeat. Another regulation time stalemate wouldn’t surprise here, though coming from behind may not yield immediate success for the Indomitable Lions, who have needed penalty shootouts to decide their last two AFCON knockout games (W1, L1).

The 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON)

Revenge will be on Mali's mind as they have the chance to reach the Africa Cup of Nations and pile the pressure on Tunisia
Following their shock late defeat to Namibia in round one, Tunisia will enter this Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) round two match at risk of failing to make it out of the group stage for the first time since 2013 with another negative result. The Carthage Eagles have reached the quarter-final stage in each of the last four editions, so returning to the kind of form which saw them unbeaten in four outings ahead of the tournament would be ideal (W3, D1). Although Tunisia’s opener was a shock as far as the result goes, the scoreline was not. All but one of their last eight AFCON tournament games ended with a 1-0 scoreline, albeit with Tunisia on the wrong end of six of them (W2, L6). Low scoring affairs are not uncommon when these two sides meet either, with three of the four H2Hs since the turn of the decade also ending 1-0, whilst none produced over 1.5 goals in total (TUN: W2, D1, L1). That sense of Tunisian trepidation is non-existent as far as Mali are concerned, as they travel here on the back of a stunning nine-game unbeaten run across all internationals (W7, D2). That run culminated in a routine 2-0 win over South Africa in their AFCON opener, leaving them already just one win away from reaching their third consecutive knockout phase in this competition. Mali’s opening day victory was their fourth consecutive AFCON winning game which was accompanied by a clean sheet, although they are often at risk of a post-win hangover as they’ve not posted back-to-back wins in the same tournament since 2012. If they break that hoodoo here, it may well be another low-scoring game as similarly to their opponents, none of their last eight AFCON tournament games has produced more than two goals.

AFCON: Lesson From Ivory

Presidentially Exclusive: A goliath of challenges of the present must not anyway be paving way to distort the actualization of the subsequent liberty from the resilient mindset. Namibia celebrated securing their first-ever Africa Cup of Nations victory. The Brave Warriors produced an excellent display to thwart fancied Tunisia in Tuesday night's Group E opener at the Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium in Korhogo, with the impressive Deon Hotto (above) popping up with a close-range header in the 89th minute to write his name into Namibian football folklore.

Head Onus

Abducted Kaduna-Abuja road travellers’ families beg public for N50m ransom
The Tinubu economy situation has really warranted this more though with the previous backdrop of chequered leadership the nation had witnessed ere the greed-necessitated inflation demanding survival of the kidnappers, the Nigeria police ought to beg Tinubu to revert to the old fuel prices as to curb such an impudent crime of a big disgrace to the force.

Other Business

FUTA students protest fee hike as school postpones resumption
When the Federal Government is faced with other business in corruption and hoarding government fund for their private means, then you do not expect them to face costs that were adjusted by the Nigeria university institution of Technology called FUTA as a result of economic reality caused by the deceptive government include medical examination for all new students, biometric identity cards and Tertiary Institutions’ Students Health Insurance Programme, administered by NHIS for students; therefore that the management have increased the school fees to over N200,000 for new students, while returning students paying N35,000 would now pay at least N130,000 depending on the academic programme showcase that the management only want to provide a cushion effect for the hyper inflation caused by the senile presidency however insidiously in an unblamed manner as their salaries are being monthly insufficient due to the Tinubu's apparent greed.

AFCON: Lesson From Ivory

Presidentially Exclusive: The rightly constitutional people get victory often by the end, remembering the Abacha's fall, away from the heroes as they are being remembered on. Garry Rodrigues (not above) scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner as the Cape Verde Islands beat four-time champions Ghana 2-1 in Group B to continue Sunday's sequence of surprise results at the Africa Cup of Nations finals.

What Legacy?

I want to be remembered for good work – Fubara
Can Tinubu be reminded of that? (Fubara is Rivers State Governor in Nigeria; Siminalayi Fubara has said his administration is performing as expected by addressing critical issues of governance and furthering the development of the state. He spoke at the Interdenominational Service organised in commemoration of the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration held at Port Harcourt on Sunday).

AFCON: Lesson From Ivory

Presidentially Exclusive: When little positive change is created in the face of challenge, total woe might still be the outcome. Guinea-Bissau, Africa's 21st-ranked team, were still in the game at 1-0 yesterday but created little - and conceded another before the hour mark against Ivory Coast.

The 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON)

AFCON hosts, Ivory Coast for opening game, have high hopes for Nigeria clash
The 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) kicks off with one of the pre-tournament favourites and host nation Ivory Coast taking on big underdogs Guinea-Bissau in Abidjan. The Elephants face all the pressure in this curtain-raising clash and first-ever H2H between the sides, as a host nation hasn’t lost their AFCON opener since Burkina Faso way back in February 1998! Jean-Louis Gasset’s side head into the tournament in fine form having lost just one of their last ten matches (W6, D3), but his players have some demons to banish, as they’ve failed to progress beyond the quarter-final stage since last lifting the trophy in 2015. That said, as the host nation hasn’t reached the AFCON final in any of the last eight iterations, and has not won the tournament since 2006, the omens are certainly against an Ivory Coast squad that boasts some serious quality. With Group A also containing strong contenders in the form of Nigeria, very little is expected of opponents Guinea-Bissau, who are participating in their fourth consecutive AFCON finals. The Djurtus will be desperate for a change in fortune at this tournament, as they’ve so far failed to win a single game in the tournament proper (D3, L6), failing to score in each of their last six such matches (D2, L4).

Burundi’s President Says Gay People Should Be Stoned
“I think that if we find these kinds of people in Burundi, it is better to take them to a stadium and stone them. And that cannot be a sin,” President Evariste Ndayishimiye said during a December 29, 2023, event where he answered questions from journalists and the public. “That's what they deserve.” (Burundi is a member of the Jawasi Group of 14)

The Peace In Denials

Federal Government College Ijanikin Lagos Nigeria: The School Based Management Committee (SBMC) on December 5th, 2023 suspended an SS 3 pupil, Mohammed Ayomide Elusogbon because his mum, Mrs. Falilat Elusogbon dragged the PTA to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged embezzlement of funds. Two other SS 2 pupils were also sent on indefinite suspension for their parents being part of the petition to EFCC. The pupils were denied access to the school portal.
Jawasi: Please be informed that the EFCC is a body set up by statute to investigate allegations of crime; and the inducement of anybody to stop the investigation of an allegation of crime is itself a criminal offence. Because heard that the petitionist had been invited to the school on several occasions and threatened by the principal that "except the petition at EFCC is withdrawn, her son would be dealt with." Though on an investigation in furtherance, the aforementioned school Principal, Dr. Kehinde Famuyibo and PTA chairman, Mr. Tokede Williams have denied being behind the suspension of Mohammed Ayomide Elusogbon!

New Year’s Day Speech

President Bola Tinubu on Monday delivered his first New Year’s Day speech since he assumed office in May 2023
"Dear Compatriots, take this from me: the time may be rough and tough, however, our spirit must remain unbowed because tough times never last."
"Just this past December during COP28 in Dubai, the German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, and I agreed and committed to a new deal to speed up the delivery of the Siemens Energy power project that will ultimately deliver reliable supply of electricity to our homes and businesses under the Presidential Power Initiative which began in 2018."
